Obituary

Mercia, Lori Rose
1960 - 2023
It is with a heavy heart that the family of Lori Rose Mercia must announce her untimely passing. On August 30th Lori lost her hard-fought battle with cancer and was taken from us much too soon.
Lori was an absolutely dazzling woman with a wicked sense of humour, a contagious laugh, the patience of a saint, and a zest for life that those who knew her will sorely miss.
In the city of Lloydminster, on one fateful Halloween in 1960, Lori was born. Her mother wanted to name her Wendy; her siblings, fearing their baby sister would be forever teased as “Wendy the Witch”, fervently argued that another name be chosen, and so the beautiful baby was christened Lori. The youngest of four siblings, little Lori charmed her family to no end; that charm would go on to affect everyone who ever had the pleasure of knowing her. She was proud of her children, enamored with her grandchildren, and loved reading, going for walks in nature, and spending time with friends and family.

Lori is survived by her husband, Sandy Mercia, her daughter Ashley, and son and daughter-in-law Sheldon and Olivia, as well as her two beloved grandchildren: Ava and Natalee. She is also survived by her three siblings, brother Lenard (Alvina) LaBar, sister Eileen Ireland, and brother Grant (Janice) LaBar. As well as a plethora of nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors, and people whom she loved dearly.
Taken from us all much too soon, we will remember you Lori in every crochet stitch we loop, every time we re-watch Dirty Dancing, and in every cookie, cheese bun, or pancake we bake, (though it will likely never be quite as good as yours). We love you, Lori.

A celebration of Lori’s life will be held at the Condor Hall on Friday, September 15, 2023, at 2:00 PM.
Memorial donations in Lori’s name may be made to the Red Deer Cancer Clinic.

Cremation entrusted to the Rocky Mountain Crematorium, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.
