Audrey Shirley Rahko
February 11, 1937 – December 27, 2023

We are saddened to announce the passing of Audrey Shirley Rahko on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. Audrey passed away peacefully with family by her side.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her 5 children: Gloria (Quinton) Wingerter of Saskatoon, SK, David (Gert) Rahko of Fort St. James, BC, Shane (Maria) Rahko of Fort St. James, BC, Iris Ayalew of Saskatoon, SK, Eldred (Louise) of Fort St. James, BC, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Audrey was predeceased by her loving husband Ted Rahko, granddaughter Casey Rahko, Daughter in-law Xnia Rahko and all of her and Ted’s siblings.

Audrey was born and raised in Rocky Mountain House, AB. As a young child the family moved to Ontario due to her mother’s health. Audrey returned to Alberta with her parents. Audrey and Ted Rahko were married February 28, 1952 and they lived and worked around the Rocky Mountain House area. They were blessed with five children. They moved to Fort St. James, BC in 1968 because of Audrey’s health.

Audrey spent the final three years of her life at the Stuart Nechako Manor in Vanderhoof, BC. She made many new friends and always enjoyed the activities, especially Bingo. Audrey loved camping, singing, animals, and holidays to visit her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always enjoyed playing cards and games. She will be remembered for her homemade bread, buns, and fried chicken. She always had the coffee pot on and you never left Audrey’s hungry.

The funeral service was held at the Rocky Mountain House Church of Nazarene on Monday, January 8, 2024 with Priest Matthew Ayalew, her grandson, officiating.
