Obituary

Herold Baron
January 14th, 1941 – September 12th, 2023
Herold passed away on September 12th, 2023, with his sister-in-law Marilyn, nieces Wanda, Wendy, Louise and his nurse Jolene by his side at The Good Samaritan Society in Rocky Mtn. House AB at the age of 82.
He was born in Stony Plain, AB to Anna & Adam Baron on January 14th, 1941. Herold grew up on the family farm with his parents & his older siblings: Valentine, William, Bertha, Rudolph, Julia, Olga, Otto, George; younger sister Helen & brother Emil, where he helped run the family farm.
Herold enjoyed farming, hunting, playing bingo and chewing snuff. He was a kind, gentle soul and had many friends in the community. He attended many farm sales and was a familiar face at Cole’s Auction Mart. He came home with many boxes of miscellaneous treasures. He was well known for his tall tales and sense of humour.
Herold never married. He moved to the Evergreen area in 1969 where he lived with his Mom and Dad. His Dad passed away in 1975. Herold continued living with his Mom until her passing in 1989. They had a very close relationship. Herold and his brother Emil and sister-in-law Marilyn farmed for many years in the Evergreen area. After a small stroke Herold moved into the Eckville Manor where he was loved by both staff and residents. When his health declined, he was moved to the Good Samaritan Society in Rocky Mountain House.
Herold will be lovingly remembered by his siblings: Helen Engelhardt, Rudy Baron sisters/brothers-in-law: Marilyn Baron, Liz Baron, Dorothy Baron, Dennis Seeley, Skip McDonald & numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
Herold is predeceased by his parents Anna & Adam Baron, siblings: Valentine (Ella) Baron, William Baron, Bertha McDonald, Julia (John) Vest, Olga Seeley, Otto Baron, George Baron, Carl Engelhardt, (Cleon) Baron, and Emil Baron.
We would also like to express our deepest gratitude to the staff at the Good Samaritan Centre and a special thanks to his nurses Jolene, Anne & Marie, health care workers Darwin, Corey Joe, Cath & Narissa and his Physio Therapist Leanne for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Herold during his stay.
