Terrence Raymond Osborne
November 5, 1947 – January 13, 2024
Terry Osborne, age 76, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 13, 2024, due to a stroke. He was born On November 5, 1947, in Red Deer, AB.
Terry was predeceased by his parents; Ray Osborne, and Adeline (Clement) Georgelin, brothers; Bernie, Brian and Don Osborne.
He is survived and sadly missed by his loving wife, Elaine (Louden) Osborne, Aunt Clara Thompson, brothers; Wayne (Judy) Osborne and Doug (Jo) Osborne, sister Lorraine (Osborne) and Larry Robin, children; Ray (Marion) Osborne, Al (Shelly) Osborne, Tracy Osborne, Jessica Osborne, Hannah Osborne and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren (including one on the way), cousins, nieces and nephews. He has a very close, supportive circle of family and friends who rallied around him to say good-bye.
He was raised in the Strachan area and attended the Glacier School, a one-roomed schoolhouse, and then continued on to high school in town. Terry‘s entire career consisted of operating heavy equipment, mostly union work in Alberta and Saskatchewan. He spent some years living in Fort McMurray, but mainly lived in the Rocky Mountain House area.
Terry loved original country music and any trivia associated with that genre. He knew all the songs, song writers names, aka’s, life histories, when they lived and died. He loved ice fishing, cooking, hanging out with the guys for coffee, being around family, riding his Harley and sitting by the campfire. He also enjoyed a good argument, and politics was at the top of the list. He belonged to and helped to support the Rocky Taxpayers Association. Terry was very skilled at telling a good joke and was able to remember quite a few. His all-time favourite book was Lonesome Dove and he and his brother, Brian, could recite the lines according to any situation. I dubbed this language, Lonesome Dove-ese. He and his brother, Don, were pretty skilled at knocking down danger trees in cramped areas. He took pride in the way his yard looked and enjoyed a bit of birdwatching in the later years. He wasn’t an athletic sporty, kind of a person, but he could run like the wind. He was game to try skiing and never tired of telling the story of how he ran over ‘Sylvester’ and ‘Tweety Bird’ (plywood cutouts) on the beginner hill. Family was very important to him. Terry’s work took him away from home much of his life, but he worked hard at regaining relationships with his family towards the end of and after retirement.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Hardindell Hall on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 2:00 PM.
Terry had a connection with the museum and was instrumental in helping to raise money for the cabin that is to be moved there in the future, as his mother had lived there as a girl. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Rocky Mountain House Museum.

Rocky Museum:
The Museum folks were very saddened to hear of Terry's passing. We all got to know him well when he started selling tickets for the log house project. No one sold more and we were overwhelmed by his dedication to the project. His ticket sales were a reflection of his many friendships and acquaintances in the community. We appreciate all he did and he will be missed. We are all very sorry for your loss - The Museum Family

Terry and I have known each other since we were small children. Just kind of reconnecting on social media. Am so sorry that he passed at such a young age. He had no problem posting that he loved his wife and children which is so wonderful. Please accept my deepest sympathies to all of the families of Terry.
Evelyn Griffith:
