Obituary

Schaber, Frederick “Fred” George
1936-2022
With great sadness, Ellie, her children, and her extended family announce the passing of Frederick George Schaber of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.
Fred passed on Friday, June 3, 2022 surrounded by his family.
Born December 11, 1936 at Fleet, Alberta, the eldest of nine children.
Fred is predeceased by his parents, Elsie and Emmanuel and his youngest sister, Brenda.
He is survived by brothers Don, Ken, Larry, Garry, Harvey, Harland, and sister, Delores Ferris.
Fred married Ellie on September 30, 1961. Fred and Ellie were blessed with 61 years together. Woven into their story are three children, Dallas, Kenton (Susan) and Lisa (Gerry), and nine grandchildren, and three – soon to be four - great grandchildren; and the friends gathered in the communities of Red Deer, Ponoka, Alder Flats, Rocky Mountain House, and Salmon Arm. We are grateful for his quiet, steadfast, and gentle ways, his love of a good joke, his devotion to family and friends, and the example of faith, trust and hope of eternal life in Jesus. Our gratitude for his life is equal in measure to our loss. He is and will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Service for Fred will be held on Monday, June 13, 2022, at the Rocky Mountain Alliance Church, 5304-57 Street, Rocky Mountain House, AB at 11:00 AM.
Interment will follow at the Garth Cemetery, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.

Condolences

Ted and Donna Honkala:

Ellie, after 61 years with the love of your life, you have lost Fred. Our hearts go out to you! You have wonderful support from Lisa, Kenton and Dallas which we hope will be a great comfort to you during this difficult time. You were our neighbours for 15 years and, even though we have missed you, we know that the move to Rocky Mountain House was timed perfectly.

Harold and Kerry Peters:

The great times in your home or in Bible studies or coffee shops is over! Those times were wonderful and we know that Fred has moved on to even better times with the one who loved him (and all of us) enough to die for our sins. Fred's faith in what Jesus did for him on the cross made him completely righteous and was his ticket to heaven. Now he is surrounded by millions of "faith in Christ believers" who were all drawn to Jesus.
Now we pray for Ellie, Dallas, Lisa and Kenton - and their families. May the Lord comfort you and give you peace. Scripture says "I will not leave you comfortless". What a great friend Fred was!

Gene & Karen Lesser:

Thankyou for sharing the link so we could join the service from a distance. Fred certainly lived out the life as a great example of a Godly man. We are grateful we met Fred and Ellie back in 2000 in Rocky Mtn House, AB. You welcomed us with open arms in Rocky.
We enjoyed some of that fried chicken at you're house in Salmon Arm. Lisa was right, it was GOOD!
We are with you in thought and prayers. Hugs to you Ellie, from a distance.
Wishing we could have been there to hug in person.

Ron and Joan Mack:

Fred; Our very best friend, we will miss you and our times together. We have had a lot of laughs, stories, and worship together as well as times in Costa Rica and making picture frames and other projects. The birthday celebrations and bible studies with you will never be forgotten. We recognize the loss to Ellie, Family and friends will be hard and send them our condolences. We Know where you have gone and pray that Jesus will enjoy you as much as we have. Thank you Fred for your friendship. Ron and Joan
