Richard Dwight Fredine

June 16, 1946- April 30, 2021

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Richard Fredine.

Richard was born in Rocky Mtn. House on June 16, 1946 to Harry and Lauretta Fredine. He grew up on the family farm in the Alhambra/Butte area. Richard grew up working on the family farm, but in his adult years Richard also spent some time working in the oil patch. However, he would come back to what he loved, being a farmer. Farming was Richard's passion. Richard was married to Joyce Fredine for 44 years. During those years together they took many camping, fishing and bus tours that would take them from B.C. to Sask. One trip Richard was very proud of was to Alaska, where he hiked the Chilkoot Trail. Richard also loved to hunt. He loved to go on goose hunting trips where he would sit in the blind for hours waiting for the geese. Richard was involved in numerous community events including the Butte Community Turkey Shoot and horseshoe tournaments. Richard loved to play crib with many people including the members of the over 60's club at the Rocky Legion and the senior club at the Pioneer Centre. Richard was a kind generous man. He always had the coffee on for his many friend and neighbors.

Richard will be remembered by his stepchildren :Lew (Patti) Aldrich, Terry (Rick) Simmons, Sheila (Lawrence) Glover; grandchildren: Rob Simmons, Amanda (Corbin) Salis, Mackenzie (Ashley) Aldrich, Adam (Chantal) Glover, Erin (Colton) Dunn; great Grandchildren Royce and Nixon Aldrich, Brooke and Jillian Salis, Ellie and Rose Glover; sister June Sawyer, sister-in-law Linda Fredine, brother-in-law Noel Delorme, sister-in-law Anne Power; nieces and nephews: Lisa (Mike) Braun, Lanna (Rob) Simmelink, Kevin (Shona) Sawyer, Malissa (Quentin) Huillery, Michael (Jocelyn) Fredine. Great nieces and nephews Courtney and Brandon Simmelink, Logan, Mckenzie and Kaley Sawyer, Hope and Jakob Huillery, Ethan, Devon and Liam Fredine;

as well as a special friend Maralyn Baker.

Glen and Marilyn Ouderkirk:

It is an honor to have had Richard and Joyce as our neighbours for 39 years. Always with the coffee pot on and ready with a helping hand for anyone. They were a big part of our community and will be truly missed. I remember going to help Richard Ivomec his cows. They didn't get put through the cattle squeeze like most because they were so quiet! He walked through the herd and treated them one at a time. With his quiet, gentle personality they were not at all scared. As a result we didn't do much but watch and learn!
