Obituary

Blair, Brenda Louise
December 9, 1960 – September 6, 2020
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Brenda Blair. She passed peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, September 6, 2020 after a courageous battle of cancer.

Brenda was born on December 9, 1960 in Vancouver, BC to her proud parents Delphene and George Blair. She grew up at Ladysmith, on Vancouver Island in an area known as the Diamond. After completing grade 12, Brenda went on to complete two years at the Malaspina College in Nanaimo and became a Legal Assistant. She later located to Rocky Mountain House to move closer to her family roots. She began work at the Rocky RCMP in 1981 working in administration. She was passionate, organized and diligent with her duties and made many connections throughout her career, until retiring in 2010.

Brenda’s days were filled by spending time with her family and friends, and with her joy of being an aunt and grand- mother. She loved travelling, spending annual vacations in Mexico as well as numerous vacations around the globe. She had a great enthusiasm for being around water, enjoying days pontoon boating and swimming in any pool, lake or ocean. She was a landlord, spending countless hours fixing up rental properties and always hard at work with projects around the home. Brenda had a very inquisitive nature and was intrigued as she prepared for any task or adventure with her knowledgebase from research. Always making time for those around her sharing many laughs with her incredible sense of humour and fun-loving personality. Brenda was caring, devoted and nurturing and will be truly missed, as she will always remain in our thoughts and forever in our hearts.

Brenda’s memory will be cherished by her loving husband Delbert Johnston; step-sons Scott (Jen), Steven (Kayla); grandchildren Jade, Cooper, Reese, Taylor, Kenzie; great grandchildren Macie & Aubree; her brother Gordon Blair; nephews Jason & Tyler; friends she treasured as family Pam & Tim Roots (Dawson & Hudson); sisters in law Donna Cadrian (John), and Joanne Rach (Dan Setterlund); brothers in law Marvin (Arleen) and Harvey (Char) and numerous extended family and close friends, all of which she touched deeply.

She was predeceased by her parents Delphene (Babe) & George, sister Charlotte; step father Monty Hallam; mother in law Marjorie Wolf; sister in law Debra Williams; grandson Colten Rilling and special friend Norm Udal.

Due to COVID protocols, a Private Celebration to honour Brenda’s life will be held by her family at the Chapel of the Rocky Funeral Home.
