Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother, and Great- Grand Mother, Bonnie Jean Leavitt. On August 12, 2024, Bonnie passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the age of 77.

Born to Ken and Helen May Clubb (Nee Sinclair) in Arcola, Saskatchewan, Bonnie was the youngest of three children. Ken and Helen moved their young family to Oak River, Manitoba, where they purchased the farm that Bonnie and her siblings would grow up on.

At age 16, Bonnie completed her hairdressing schooling, a trade that she practised for many years. She married a local man, John English, and had two children, Peter and Jacquelyn. After a few years past, the family moved from Oak River to Creston, BC. From there, they moved into various places in Alberta. In 1976, they settled in Innisfail, in which they called home for many years.

Bonnie was an avid quilter and completed many beautiful projects over the years. She was very humble about her crafting abilities. Bonnie spent time playing slow pitch, bowling, golfing and learning to ride a motorcycle. She was extremely proud of her time volunteering at the Legion and the ladies auxiliary.

In her later years, she met and was remarried to Archie Leavitt. Together they moved to Rocky Mountain House. They enjoyed camping, fishing and anything outdoors until his passing in 2011. From there Bonnie moved back, closer to her family.

Bonnie will be lovingly remembered by her children, Pete (Anita)English, their two children, Lynsie and Jerrica. Jacquie (Dave)Keown, their three children Kearstyn, Joshua and Eric. As well as her Great Grandchildren, Charlee, Kash, Sophia, Finley and Olivia. Also left to mourn, her sister Darlene Hannah and Niece Patricia and Nephew Ken.

In keeping with Bonnie’s wishes, a funeral will not be held, rather a private family gathering at a later date.

In memory of Bonnie, please attend your local Legion on fish and chip day and play some Nevada tickets while enjoying your lunch. It was one of her favourite things to do!
