Our Family

Rocky Funeral Home is privately owned and operated.

We have been serving the families of Rocky Mountain House and Clearwater County for more than 60 years.

Rocky Funeral Home is owned and operated by Gordon and Diane Flinn. They have lived in Rocky Mountain House for more than 30 years. They have four children and six grandchildren.

Gordon was born and raised in Innisfail and has been involved in the funeral industry since he was 16 years old. His father also worked at the funeral home in Innisfail. Gordon has worked for several funeral homes in Central Alberta so has a vast array of experiences.

Diane was raised on a farm at Clive, Alberta and started her career in the funeral industry by answering phones when Gordon worked for Fenton and Kirkman Funeral Home in Lacombe. After moving to Rocky Mountain House in 1987, she began to work full time at Rocky Funeral Home doing office work and became a licensed funeral director.

We see, hear and understand your grief

The Flinn Family

Gordon and Diane’s 3 of their 4 children have taken over the running of the family business (basically letting them retire), so they can spend some well earned years doing things they would like to do. Gordon, spends his time going for coffee and working in the garage on woodworking projects. Diane, loves to be at home, taking care of things she put off for years, as well as baking, reading, puzzle making, and walking Rueben, their beloved King Charles Cavalier dog.

Running the day to day operations now is Laurie and Nancy, who are co-managing. They have big shoes to fill, but with a lifetime of watching and doing, they hope to keep up the legacy of caring for families.

Laurie is a licensed funeral director & the business manager, as well as a Celebrant- she will officiate for families that do not have religious ties. In her free time, she loves to tend to her orchids, and to putter around in her yard in the warm spring and summer.

Nancy is a licensed funeral director, our Remco representative, and licensed Pre Need Advisor, plus she does most of the behind the scenes paperwork. Nancy is a busy mom of four children, so she is rarely at home, busy taking them to their activities. If around home, she enjoys being with her kids and tending to her flower beds in the summer.

John works mainly out of our Sylvan Lake Funeral Home as a funeral attendant, assisting around the funeral home and cemetery set ups. In John’s free time, he loves coaching Pee Wee Football with the Sylvan Lake Bears and going out camping/ hiking in the west country.

Gordon and Diane’s second daughter Karen resides in Edmonton. She has her funeral directors license, so she can step in if we ask her. Her life in Edmonton is filled with her two dogs Oreo and Twix, plus relaxing around home or in her backyard.

We care about helping you through a very painful time
