It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Bev McMullan.
Bev was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba, to William and Phyllis Hadubiak, one of seven children in the family. After spending her early years there, the family moved to the Hadubiak family farm near Canora, Saskatchewan, where Bev grew up and attended school. Following graduation, she went on to college in Saskatoon, SK, where she studied nursing.
Bev later moved to Calgary, where she worked for many years in the Assistant Meat Director at CO-OP, before retiring in 2005. During that time, Bev began volunteering with the Radio Watch Crime Prevention group, which she was a co-founder of and most importantly, where she met the love of her life, Wayne. They were married in May of 1985. Bev and Wayne continued their shared commitment to volunteering as members of Calgary A.R.E.S., an amateur radio operators’ group. Where they made many fond memories together.
In 2010, Bev and Wayne moved to their acreage northeast of Caroline, affectionately by Bev as the “Eagle’s Nest”. A devoted animal lover, Bev cherished her fur family and took great joy in watching the wildlife that passed through the area. She felt a special connection to bald eagles, and on occasion, one would grace the Eagle’s Nest with a visit.
Bev took great pride in her family, and her greatest passion in life; aside from her family and friends; was her crafting, a passion retirement allowed her to fully embrace. Bev had a deep passion for crafting in all its forms, approaching each project with creativity, patience, and remarkable skill. Her mastery was evident in everything she made, and she took great joy in sharing her talents with others. Through her crafts, Bev expressed her love, generosity, and attention to detail; leaving behind beautiful creations that will be treasured for years to come.
Bev is survived and deeply missed by her loving husband of 40 years, Wayne McMullan; her children, daughter, Jennie (Mike) and son, Justin (Sara); and her grandsons, Jordan and Parker.
She is also survived by her siblings: Rick (Susan) Hadubiak of Regina, SK; Inez (Denis) Sanche of Saskatoon, SK; Ken Hadubiak of Edmonton, AB; Doug (Connie) Hadubiak of Melville, SK; and Dennis (Lori) Hadubiak of Calgary, AB.
Bev will be fondly remembered by her many extended family members and friends, all of whom meant the world to her.
Bev was predeceased by her parents, William and Phyllis Hadubiak, and her sister, Vicki.
Bev will be remembered as a truly unique and spirited individual; sassy, strong-willed, and kind-hearted. She was always willing to help others and left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Bev lived a life rooted in connection, friendship, loyalty, and love. She was someone we trusted, laughed with, and deeply cherished.
The McMullan family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to everyone who reached out and kept our family in their thoughts. Your quiet acts of kindness are deeply appreciated and have brought us great comfort, serving as a powerful reminder of the impact Bev had on so many lives. We are truly blessed to have had Bev in our lives and will miss her presence every day.
A Celebration of Life for Bev will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Rocky Funeral Home, 4804–48 Street, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Medicine River Wildlife Center.
