Donald Morris Duhamel
November 23, 1941 – May 25, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Morris Duhamel, who entered into rest peacefully in his sleep on May 25, 2026, at the age of 84.
Donald Morris Duhamel was born on November 23, 1941, to Albert and Violet Duhamel. The youngest of the children, Don lived a simple, honest life centred around family, hard work, home, and the little things that brought him joy.
He loved fishing, camping, farming, spending time outdoors and caring for animals. Whether it was a quiet visit, a family gathering, or watching the kids play, Don cherished being surrounded by the people he loved.
Don was a hardworking and resourceful man who loved inventing things, building, fixing, and creating with whatever he had on hand. He built a garage, storage shed, shop, and other projects. He lived his life - steady, capable, and never afraid of hard work.
Don loved going for coffee with family and friends. Like clockwork, you could often find him at A&W or the Co-op, visiting, sharing stories, and enjoying the company of familiar faces. He was full of stories from both the past and present, was never afraid to tell a joke, and always had something smart to say. Don found humour in almost everything, and his quick wit, teasing nature, and endless stories will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. He also loved his westerns and old classic country music.
Don met the love of his life, Sylvia, at Fletcher’s Printing Shop in Red Deer, Alberta. Together, Don and Sylvia built a life filled with family, memories, devotion and laughter.
Don will be lovingly remembered by his children: Lorie (Bob), Dan (Viv), Jerry, and Michelle (Andrew); his grandchildren: Mellissa (Nicholas), Athena, Callen, Randi (Chad), Morgan (Susanna), Matthew (Kia), Turi, and Mistaya; as well as his many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and the many extended children and grandchildren who were welcomed into the family with open arms.
He was predeceased by his wife, Sylvia; his parents; and extended family members.
Don will be remembered as a kind, resourceful, and steady man who loved his family. His life reflected the values of hard work, loyalty, humour, creativity, and love for family, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Clearwater Centre tremendously for their care, kindness, compassion, and support shown to Don and the family.
At Don’s request, no service will be held.
In place of flowers, donations may be made in Don’s memory to the Compassionate Care Hospice Society – PO Box 283, RMH, AB T4T 1A2.
