Obituary

Italo Pedrazzini passed away Thursday, February 5th, 2026, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital with family members at his bedside.
He was born in Villatico, a village on Lake Como in northern Italy near the Swiss border. There, he attended school and helped with herding goats and cows on the mountainside. When he was seventeen he and his family came to Canada to live with his Grandpa Pete at Buster Creek.
He and his father went to work at Andy Miller’s sawmill. He also worked for both Harry Berger and Art Fisher. He worked as a tree faller or in a sawmill with the aim of saving money to buy his own farm.
In 1966 he married Sylvia Allen. They had three sons, Peter. Philip and Patrick. A few years after his marriage he had enough money saved up to buy two quarter sections of land north of Rocky Mountain House from Henry Stelfox. Over the years he, with the help of his family, cleared land, built a house and barn and other buildings to make the farm we have today.
In the community, he helped to sign up people to organizations such as the Rural Crime Watch and the Rocky Gas Co-op. He also belonged to the Gray Wooded Forage Association.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Fulvia and Renata, in Italy; and in Canada his Mother and Father Cesarina and Fulvio Pedrazzini, his brother Antonio, and his son Philip.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia, his sons Peter (Philomena) and Patrick (Thea) and his brother Renato. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, his nieces and nephews and numerous cousins in Italy.
Funeral services will be held at St. Matthew Church on Tuesday February 24th, 2026, at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation.
