Reiner Karl Smith
May 12, 1956 – September 11, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Reiner Karl Smith, who passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026.

Reiner was born on May 12, 1956, in Bad Kissingen, Germany.

He was a kind-hearted man who was known by many and remembered for the kindness he showed to others.

Reiner loved his family deeply. His children and grandchildren meant the world to him, and he always wanted to make sure they were all doing alright. He was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and his family will forever carry the memories of his love and care.

Reiner was a man who never liked to sit still. He always kept himself busy, and if there was ever a spare moment, he could usually be found fixing something, building something, or finding a new project to work on. He loved being outdoors, especially gardening, out west ,and enjoyed travelling on both sides of the border.

He enjoyed playing in dart and bowling leagues and had a curious mind that always wanted to learn something new. Reiner taught himself to do investments and never stopped learning. One of his special memories with his children was teaching himself and them how to play chess — creating not only a new skill, but memories they would carry with them.

Reiner will be lovingly remembered by his children, Hillary Scott, Magie Ogilvie, Robert Ogilvie, Joshua Smith, and Melissa Smith; his 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Mike Smith, along with many other family members and friends whose lives he touched.

He was predeceased by his parents, Helga and Kenneth Smith.

Reiner will be deeply missed, but his kindness, his stories, his busy hands, and the love he had for his family will live on in the memories of those who knew him.
