Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Roxane Ann Bourdeau of Rocky Mountain House, who passed away peacefully at the Rocky Mountain House Hospital on February 7, 2025, at the age of 59.
Roxane was born on February 17, 1965, in Cornwall, Ontario, to Claude and Irene Bourdeau. The eldest of three children, she carried a natural warmth and kindness that she shared with everyone she met.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Brianne Ellie Melvin, and her fiancé, Bob Spooner; her mother, Irene Bourdeau; her sister, Christine Jeaurond, and brother-in-law, Julien Jeaurond; as well as her nieces, Jocelyne and Claudine Jeaurond. She was predeceased by her father, Claude Bourdeau, and her brother, Eric Bourdeau.
Roxane was a pillar of her community, dedicating her life to working with children at École Rocky Elementary and West Central High School. She was also an active leader in the local gymnastics, kayaking, and canoe clubs, always fostering a sense of teamwork, adventure, and joy.
Patient, genuine, and endlessly encouraging, Roxane had a gift for bringing out the best in others. She found joy in gardening and painting, using her creativity to bring people together and brighten the lives of those around her.
Though she fought cancer with incredible strength, determination, and resilience, Roxane's greatest legacy is the love and inspiration she leaves behind.
A funeral service will be held on February 18, 2025, at 1:00 PM at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church.
She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Condolences

Corinne Jaffray:

Deepest condolences to all of Roxane’s family. Having worked with her at ERE she spoke often with pride and love about her loved ones. She lit up a room with her smile and made everyone feel at ease with her warmth. She will be missed. She was an amazing lady.

Brenda Brown:

Mel and I were so saddened to hear the news of Roxane's passing. She was a beautiful woman, inside and out. Roxane and I were colleagues, and we were friends until life got in the way. Roxane was my grandson's very first babysitter when his mom returned to teaching at ERE, and Jaxon loved her. She made every day special for him.
I know firsthand what an exceptional Educational Assistant Roxane was. I know how she made her student's feel cared for, and how she educated them, alongside of their teacher. Her goal was to see them succeed. They will miss her so very much, but they will remember her.
When I heard the news , my heart went instantly to Brianne, her joy, her pride, and her greatest accomplishment. I am so sorry, sweetheart, for this insurmountable loss. Our prayers and hearts are with you.
Roxane spoke so often of her mom, her sister Christine and her family, and it was my pleasure to meet you. We know your hearts are broken, along with Robert's, her love, her soul mate, and her future. May God hold all of you close to him in the days, weeks, and months ahead. Rest easy in the arms of Jesus, my lovely friend.

Lori Allen:

Roxane, you lit up a room
wherever you went with your beautiful smile and those shining eyes.
You shared a part of yourself with everyone you knew. It was such a
pleasure to kayak, hike, work and just visit with a glass of wine with
you. I will treasure those times. You had so much love for life, you
will be truly missed by everyone that knew you.
Bob, Breanne, Irene,
Christine and family, she loved you with her whole being. Roxane, we
will all miss you and we will all carry your light within us forever.
Our Condolences to all that knew her.
Rest in peace, my friend.

Jolene Evanochko :

So sad to hear of Roxane’s passing. Sending love and prayers to her family in this difficult time. Roxane was a beautiful person who always made the world better with her sense of humour and kindness and she will be missed.

Annette Valstar:

It is a great shock and sadness to hear about Roxane, a beautiful woman, inside and out. Striving like all of us in our faith journey to Heaven. She reached her goal much too soon for those who admired, respected and loved her. She was a bright light that did not go out but moved to a place where she shines brighter. We look forward to our reunion. My deepest sympathy to Brianne and her family.

Raymond Rose jr , Danielle Rozon ( Bainsville, Ontario).:

Bon courage.

Parent:

Roxane always had a smile on her face when I would see her at the crosswalk. Even if it was cold and snowy out, she was always cheerful.

J.J. Schamehorn:

Although our paths crossed but twice, Roxane's joie de vivre was infectious. Stories flowed freeely and easily in her company, and you felt like you'd been friends for years not hours. I was witness to the love she had for life through the eyes of another, and I am most indebted to her for the joy she brought to the lives around her, most notably my friend.

Rest in Peace.

Carole Labelle:

I have so many good memories of Roxanne. You left a hole in many people's heart. My deepest sympathies to all her family friends and all the people that she met in her life. Blessings,

Kelly Laponsee-Vandrish:

Roxane, you will be missed. You were an amazing friend and wonderful person, especially towards my daughters Aly and Katie. I still use recipes that you shared and gardening techniques. Fly high sweet angel and have fun with your Dad and brother. Until we meet again.

Debbie Stewart:

Roxane was both a wonderful colleague and friend. Words cannot express how much I will miss her.

My deepest condolences to Brianne, Bob, Irene, Christine, Julien, Jocelyne and Claudine.

Kim Blanchet:

So sad to hear this news.
My condolescences to her daughter and family. We were friends when she lived in Cornwall. Many laughs were shared. Fond memories of her always. Rest in peace.

Sandra Cech:

Christine, my condolences on the loss of Roxane. Sisters are a true gift that seem to nourish our very being. May your memories sustain you and your family.

Tim Bowman:

I am deeply saddened by the passing of our colleague and friend. Roxane was vibrant, positive, and patient. I admired her warm smile, ready laugh, and her ability to connect with students, staff, and community in French or English. She gave her full energy to bringing out the best in others - and she was exceptional at it. An entire school community was inspired by Roxane's example, and we are all better for knowing her. Thinking of Brianne, Irene, Christine, Julien, and Bob and everyone touched by Roxane's warm personality. Tu vas me manquer mon ami.

Maybritt Geverink:

Brianne, Bob, and the the rest of the family,
May the Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you,
May the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.

Suzy & Roy Harder:

Brianne, so very sorry for your loss, sending our deepest condolences to you and the family. Your mom was an inspiration to those she worked with and the greatest cheerleader for you. It is heartbreaking that she left way too early. Sending hugs.

James, Martha, Aiden and Nevaeh:

Roxane,
There are so many things I need to say, but the words are falling all over each other.
You were so true to who you were, your faith, your values, the beauty you saw all around you, and I so admired you for that, such strength. There were no hurdles in your path that you didn't meet head on, and you did so with faith, style and grace.
Your love of people and especially children was unconditional,
Your love of life unsurpassed,
Your smile unstoppable.
And Heaven as beautiful as it is, is now even more so with you there.
Our deepest condolences to Brianne, Robert, you mom, sister, nieces, your entire family. Our hearts ache, and you will be deeply missed. Thank you for all of our talks, being able to share as Mothers, I am eternally grateful. Love you

Roxane’s legacy of love, strength, optimism and kindness lives on in all those she shared time with. We are forever changed and improved because of the love she poured into the world; poured into the kids, into her friendships, her family, and especially into her beautiful, amazing and courageous daughter, B.
The river is wide. The current can be strong. Always paddle with friends and be sure to pause in the eddy to watch the light dance on the water.
