Obituary

Barbara (Dell) Fisher
October 14, 1932 – January 3, 2026
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our wonderful loving mother and grandmother, Barbara Dell Fisher (nee: Tyrrell) who passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026.
Dell was born in Elk Point Alberta, and grew up in several logging camps in British Columbia during WWII. The family returned to Alberta when Dell was a young adult, and shortly thereafter, she met and married Louie Fisher in 1953. In 1961, as a young couple with 4 children – Karen, Kim, Stuart and Barbara - Dell and Louie moved to a farm in the Arbutus area, built a home from the logs on the farm, cleared the land for hay, and began a small cow/calf operation.
They very soon established strong roots in the community, made lifelong friends, and ultimately completed the family with two more children – Jane and Murray. On their retirement, Dell and Louie moved to an acreage on the farm in 1990, where Dell resided for the rest of her life.
Dell was predeceased in 2011 by her loving husband of 58 years, Louie Fisher; parents Leonard Tyrrell (1981) and Edna Tyrrell (1994); brother Jack Tyrrell (2008); grandson Rory Medin (2008); and great-grandson Jayden Evans (2020).
Dell is survived by her 6 children: Karen (Earl) Medin; Kim (Calvin) Randall; Stuart (Frances) Fisher; Barbara (Richard) Artzen; Jane (Kirby) Muyres; Murray (Corrina) Fisher; 15 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 2 honorary grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 2 PM at the Chapel of the Rocky Funeral Home, followed by a light lunch.

Stewart Stephanson:

Condolences to all the family of Dell.
Dell and Louie were long time friends from our days at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Rocky.
I ( Stewart ) attended to duties at the farm, as a service man ( for the natural gas company that provided the service at the farm )
The last time I spoke to Dell, she was having a coffee outside on Main Street on a nice summer day.
I had walked by, not noticing her !
Suddenly, there was a person walking beside me, putting an arm around my shoulder and announcing, so good to see you again Stewart !
It was Dell, and the greeting made my day !
Remembering both Dell and Louie with fondness .
Sincerely
Stewart ( and Jean )
