Obituary

Wymenga, Ron

Ron (Roel) Wymenga passed away peacefully on January 22nd, 2016.
Ron was born on March 19, 1959 in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta and spent his whole life in this area, except for eleven months when Ron lived with his family in The Netherlands. Ron was the third child of Roel and Janke Wymenga. In 1978, Ron married Erika Hornstra. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Eric and David. Ron was a farmer’s son, and grew up to farm, taking much pride in his livestock. He also owned and operated “Wymenga Backhoe Service.” Ron was a hard worker with high standards. Erika and Ron were true partners, working together on the farm and for the business, as well as being best friends. Ron loved horses his whole life and found great pleasure in camping and riding in the mountains. Ron leaves behind his wife of nearly thirty-eight years, Erika, his son Eric and Eric’s wife Jodi, his son David and David’s wife Jennifer, and his beloved grandchildren Jordon, Hailey, Kylie, Xander and Ronin. Ron is survived by his brother Dick (Rose) Wymenga; his sisters Bev (Rick) Emmons, Jenny Knight, and Reta (Martin) Byzitter, Ron’s mother and father-in-law Ingrid and Jack Hornstra, as well as a loving extended family and a large circle of friends. Ron was predeceased by both his parents.
