Obituary

Sandra “Sandy” Howes
1947-2026

On the evening on August 16, 2026 our very beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend slipped away. She had grown very weary and tired and was ready to be reunited with her loving husband and son.

Sandy was the monarch of our family, our queen bee. She was the planner of our family holidays and the glue that held us all together. She loved all her grandchildren so much and was always their biggest fan. Nothing in this world made Sandy happier than when we were all together at her home to celebrate a family holiday. She loved the company, the laughs, the chaos, and she loved cooking for her whole family.

Sandy loved camping with her boys and their families. She loved adventuring with her grandbabies. She and Grandpa never missed a hometown Moto X when Kayd was racing, and they travelled many miles to be in the stands to cheer on Dej throughout her hockey journey. We are lucky that Sandy was able to join us on many adventures over the years, from camping out west, to the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and most recently, Boston. She valued every single adventure she could go on.

Sandra was a thoughtful and selfless mother, an involved mom who shared these traits with her sons. She continued to demonstrate these qualities as an amazing grandmother and great-grandmother. In her eyes, her grandbabies could do no wrong. She always beamed with pride when speaking of any of them. She loved the visits and phone calls with them, hearing about their journeys, adventures, and lives.

Sandy always made us laugh. She was so witty and a smart-ass. I think a few of her grandchildren inherited this trait from her. I’m sure she’s up there right now, upset that she will miss bingo on Tuesday night. We will share stories and memories about her for the rest of our days.

Sandy had so many memories of all her boys' friends. She never forgot a face or a name and would ask about them frequently. Many of them she considered family.

We are comforted knowing she is with Dad again. Sandy is no longer in pain or suffering.
She didn't leave without telling us how much she loved us all, and she left knowing how much we loved her. Sandy always said, “I love you.” We will miss hearing her speak those words to us, but we all know she truly loved us.

We weren't ready for her to leave this world just yet, but we also understand it was time. We will carry Sandy's love and support with us every single day. Forever.

The family will be holding a Celebration of Sandy's Life on Saturday, September 19, from
12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Dale's acreage/Sandy's home. Family and friends are welcome to join at any time.
