Obituary

Jody Ethelyn DeFoor

May 11, 1956 to June 10, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jody DeFoor at the age of 70 on June 10th, 2026 in Rocky Mountain House, AB.
Jody was born on May 11th in Empress AB to Ralph and Dora Needham. Jody was the second youngest out of 6 children. Her sister Lorna was over the moon to finally have another girl in the family. In her early years she spent her time in Hannah, Spruceview and Drumheller laughing and having fun with all her sibling.
In 1970 Jody met the love of her life, Brian DeFoor. The two were meant to be with each other and married in November of 1973. The two moved to Stettler and were blessed with their first son, Christopher. Shortly after they moved back Drumheller and were blessed with their second son, Jason. Not too long after that they moved to Wetaskawin and then to Rocky and were blessed with their third and youngest child, Blain. They must have loved Rocky as this is where they choose to remain and plant roots.
Jody was beautiful, kind, and the funniest person you could have ever known. She had so much love in her heart and anyone who knew her felt it. Her laugh, smile, sense of humour and personality could light up any room that she walked into. Jody loved people endlessly and never failed to make those around her feel welcome and good about themselves. She never gave up and never stopped believing in those that she loved. Her loyalty and empathy was endless regardless of distance. She always hoped for the best for all that she loved.
Jody had many hobbies but the ones she loved the most was taking pictures, growing flowers, camping and traveling to see her loved ones. Jody loved nature and adored any animal she came across.
She may have passed but she’s not gone from us completely, a little bit of her lives in each and every one of us and she will forever be in our hearts and in our memories.
Left to carry on Jody’s memory is her husband Brian DeFoor; their children: Chris (Kim), Jason (Gwen), and Blain. Grandchildren Alyssa (Tony), Hayden (Sara), Dustin and Emery. Siblings Dennis (Sandy), Larry (Maureen), Lorna (Terry), Dwayne, and Tim: as well as many close family, adopted family and friends.

Condolences

Nathan Boysis :

Growing up, some of my fondest memories were seeing you at family reunions. You were always so warm and welcoming and you were the definition of “family.”

Over the years I drifted from you and many others but you were always in my thoughts. I could especially count on you to comment/like anything I posted on Facebook and I felt like you were my biggest fan. You were everyone’s biggest fan. Such an incredibly loving and great human being. I wish I’d seen you more than just once over the past few years, but I’m glad you were a part of my life at all.

My deepest condolences to everyone closest to Jody. Lots and lots of love.

Laura Dennis :
