Obituary

Amber Rae Bott (Bates) passed away Jan. 3, 2026, as a result of a tragic motor vehicle accident in Red Deer County. She was 41 yrs of age.
Amber was born on March 24, 1984, in Rocky Mtn. House
to Terry Lee Mason. She spent her early years in Rocky Mtn. House, being the little sister to
brothers Jason, Jeremy and Tyler. Amber started school in Lochearn Elementary School in Rocky and later moved to Eckville School. After having spent some time at David Thompson High School, she returned to Eckville where she graduated.
While in high school, Amber did part time jobs at the local restaurant & convenience store.
After completing high school, Amber worked hard at becoming a welder. As an oilfield
welder, she worked at a number of places around Alberta. On Jan. 2, 2004, Amber started
dating her future husband Bradly Joe Bott (BJ). Before getting married, Amber thought it was
probably not wise to have both the husband and wife working in the oilfield and having to be mobile enough to work throughout Western Canada.
Amber and BJ were married June 24, 2006, in the little church at Dickson.
Amber found her calling in life when she got a job at Westward Goals in Rocky Mtn. House.
She started the new career as a care aid for adults with developmental disabilities. After
a short time she was promoted to team leader. In charge of a 3 person group home
Amber was recruited to set up a program for adults with developmental disabilities in
Sylvan Lake’s KCS. She then spent a few years at EPSS in Red Deer, where she provided
support and training to families with disabilities.
In 2025, Amber found employment in what she called her “dream” job at the
Office of the Public Guardian. Amber was considered a giant slayer
when it came to ensuring the human rights of vulnerable people or those who required
assistance in getting through the system. She was passionate, making sure that all
people were treated fairly and always in her pleasant, positive way.
On Feb 8, 2009, Amber and BJ were blessed with the arrival of their first son
Layne Wesley and on June 30, 2012, Layne was joined by brother Corban David.
Amber’s first passion was her family. She made sure that her sons received the best medical care available. She enrolled the boys in French immersion, making sure that they were equipped with the best education available to face life in Canada.
Amber was a hockey mom, soccer mom, baseball mom and always made sure that the
boys were at practices or games on time.
She was her sons’ greatest fan.
Amber and BJ enjoyed many vacations together including a Baltic Sea cruise for their
honeymoon and New York. After the boys were born, the family enjoyed time together camping throughout Alberta and B.C. They also spent family holidays in various places including Disneyland, Mexico, Las Vegas and Hawaii.
Amber is survived by her husband BJ, sons Layne and Corban, brothers Jason (Jodi)
Bates, Jeremy (Nova) Bates, Dustin (Angela) Leslie, sister Crystal Leslie, sister-in-law Tanya Bates and stepsister Amanda (Greg) Hawboldt.
She is also survived by her stepfather Dave Anderson, father Brian (Rose) Leslie, grandmothers Lucy Mason and Jenny Leslie, father-in-law Wesley (Connie) Bott,
Brothers-in-law Jamie (Kara) Bott and Brent (Melanie) Bott. Also, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Amber was predeceased by her mother Terry Anderson, brother Tyler Bates, stepdad
Bill Bates and mother-in-law Clara Bott.
We will miss Amber’s gorgeous smile, infectious giggle and her beloved kind gentle
spirit. A wonderful wife, mother, sister and friend.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026,
Living Stones Church, 2020-40 Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta at 1 pm.
Donations can be made in Amber’s name to Stollery Children’s Hospital.

Amber filled a piece of my heart with love , laughter, and hope. She was the most caring, kind, empathetic person I have ever met. Her passion for healing the pain and advocating for those who could not advocate for themselves was nothing less than a Godsent for those who were fortune enough to have her advocate on their behalf.
My deepest condolences to B.J., Layne, Corban and family. God has taken her into his fold but she is still watching and cheering on all your games. She was so proud to be your Mom and even though she can not be physically with you, she will always be in your heart and memories.
She has left this world too soon and I will miss her dearly.
