Obituary

Born August 26, 1944, in Rocky Mountain House to George and Ester Brown. He grew up on the farm in the Oras district of Rocky Mountain House, where he enjoyed working in the garden, splitting firewood for the family home. He attended Oras #2 school then attended school in Rocky Mountain House. After finishing school, he ventured off to work in the oil patch for a few years, then moved on to start his own trucking company, W. Brown Trucking. He purchased a semi-truck and trailer and began hauling hay to B.C. and hauling lumber back to Alberta which proved to be a very successful business venture for many years. After he retired from the trucking industry, he gained employment as a salesman for Baseline Pressure Testers from which he fully retired from.
Walter is predeceased by his parents George and Ester Brown, bother Denis Brown, sisters’ Violet Evjen and Vivian Andres, brother-in-law Wayne Andres, brother-in-law Wayne Bartrop, nephew Billy Sands, niece Wendy Sands, along with many aunts and uncles who passed before him.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn Lucas Brown, children Tyrone Mayes, Sherry Tkach (Doug), Daphne Brown, Scarlett Brown, Leeza Leishman, Troy Mayes, sister Florence Bartrop, brother Richard Brown (Rosella), George Brown (Rosemary), sister-in-law Laura Ancheas, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Our heartfelt thank you to the Rocky Health Care Centre, Doctors and Nurses for the great care they gave Walter. To all our friends and family thank you for all the support.
Celebration of Life to be held at the New Life Church February 21, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.

Nadja Neukom:

I am sorry for the loss of Walter.
I will miss seeing him at Shell.
Please accept my condolences.
May he rest in Peace.

Rob Goheen:

I never knew him, I only heard of him through his daughter Leeza. She spoke very highly and loving about him. Knowing her and the good heart she has I wished I would have had the chance to have met the man.

Nicole Naughton:

Rest in Peace Grandpa Wally, I will always cherish those memories of you teaching me how to ride a quad (but not through the neighbours canola fields), the memory of that Pokémon themed birthday I had where I drove you nuts with my toy, and the memories of you showing me how to care for all those animals in need I remember you had. I wasn’t your grand-daughter by blood, but you always ensured I had a part I was missing in my life. Until we meet again, your Nikki.

Alessia Sands:

Rest In peace Uncle Wally, I will miss u lots and lots, we made so many good memories together, you're the best Uncle I ever have. I love you, Rest in peace.

Laura Turnbull :

To marlyn and family i send my heartfelt condolences to you and all of your family and all of Walter’s family. May he rest in peace..

Wendell Brown :

You will be dearly missed and I miss our future chats already. As far as donations go I will give to the family because with all the funds directed to cancer over many decades hasn't amounted to much.
