Obituary

Judy Gibson, of Leslieville, passed away June 23, 2026 at the Rocky Mountain House Health Care Centre 

She was born February 7, 1946 at Swift Current, Saskatchewan to Elsie and Herbert Peterson. Judy moved with her family to Leslieville when she was in Grade 11. On July 4, 1966 , she married her best friend, Danny Gibson. They had more odd jobs than a fugitive, and lived at Red Deer, Stettler, Innisfail, and Condor before they settled back at their favourite place in the world, Leslieville; where in 1979 they established the Western Star newspaper. She had great family instincts and was a loyal friend to many. 

Judy is survived by her husband of 60 years, Danny; daughters Susan, Jenny and Charlotte; her grandchildren Megan, Ellis, Reese, Cash and Cohen; brother Donald Peterson; sisters Carol Landon and Jean Wolney. 

She is predeceased by her parents Herbert and Elsie, grandson Jacob Harden, and sister Sharon Moch. 

A funeral service will be held at the Bethel Union Church in Leslieville, on Saturday, July 4 at 1:00 pm. with Pastor Iran Pedraza officiating. Interment at the Leslieville Cemetery. Lunch to follow. 

If friends or family desire, memorial contributions can be made to the Rocky Public Library.
