Loren Paul Walton passed away peacefully with his family by his side on January 11, 2026, at the age of 84 years.
Born in Edmonton, Alberta to Robert and Marjorie Walton, Loren was the youngest of three children.
His family moved to Sherwood Park, Alberta, where he met the love of his life Marlene Isabella Heeks. Loren and Marlene married on November 30, 1957.
Loren began his career apprenticing as a pressman at his father’s business, Bradburn Printers, in Edmonton. He worked as a Journeyman Pressman in Edmonton for 25 years. Loren and Marlene purchased their first home in Sherwood Park. As their family grew, purchased a larger second home in Sherwood Park, where they lived and raised their children until 1980.
Loren always had a desire to try his hand at farming, but it was his passion for fishing and hunting that inspired him to relocate his family to Rocky Mountain House. Upon arriving, Loren constructed a beautiful home that offered a breathtaking view of the Rocky Mountains. During their time in Rocky, Loren worked at the Ram River Gas Plant as a maintenance worker, applying his skills in welding and pipe fitting. The move from the city to a rural community proved to be a significant cultural adjustment for the entire family, marking a new chapter in their lives.
He was a devoted husband and father to his children and grandchildren. His family meant everything to him. He would spend hours teaching them how to fish or how to build projects out of wood. His passion to build led him to craft cedar strip canoes, a cedar bridge and many other projects.
After his children were grown, Loren and Marlene sold the tractor and bought a boat and moved to Sunset Bay, Buck Lake in 2007 where he built another home. As health challenges increased with age the couple returned to Rocky Mountain House in 2020.
Loren was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Marjorie Walton, and siblings Robert Walton and Marjorie Yule (Gordon). He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Marlene Walton; four children—sons, Loren (Lana) Walton and Terry (Brenda) Walton, and daughters Lori (Eugene) Gervais and Sheryl (Raymond) Gervais; Fifteen Grandchildren, thirty-three Great-Grandchildren, and three Great-Great-Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
