Elaine Mary (Feitl) Lipka
Feb. 3, 1946 – July 17, 2026

Elaine was born to Frank and Louise Feitl (February 3, 1946) on the family farm in the Evergreen community. In 1951, Elaine became a sister to Donna. The Feitl’s did not have much money but they lived a full life. Favorite past times included Jam sessions with the Siebert family at the Gaetz farm. Family gatherings were always filled with jokes and laughter. Elaine enjoyed music too; she sang, danced and also dabbled with an accordion and piano. Elaine attended school at Condor where she excelled and enjoyed Language Arts.

When Elaine was younger, she worked at a flower shop and at a greenhouse. She had a green thumb and loved to garden much like her mother Louise. Her gardens were always well weeded and accentuated by beautiful flowers. Elaine loved picking fruit and canning as well.

Elaine also worked for a cattle rancher. This is when she found one of her biggest passions. Elaine’s first true love was a horse named Redwing. Horses were always a big part of her life. She did many poker rally’s, trail rides, cattle drives and mountain trips. Over the years Elaine bought and raised many horses and took pleasure enjoying them with family and friends. She also got to experience watching show events at Spruce Meadows.

On June 5, 1965 Elaine married Rudolph Lipka. They had three sons (Allan, Kerry and Kelly) over the course of 17 years. They lived on Bill and Mary Lipka’s farm and had several different living arrangements over the years to accommodate the growing family. Over time they took over the family farm and eventually passed it down to their middle son Kerry.

Family was always important. Free time was well spent visiting with all the aunts, uncles and cousins on both sides of the family; whether it was a Christmas dinner, morning coffees or Friday night drinks.

Elaine and Rudolph enjoyed travelling. They went on many trips to visit relatives near and far. Elaine Rudolph and the family also enjoyed fishing, camping and annual trips to Fairmont. All these activities usually included Aunts, Uncles and close cousins.

Rudolph and Elaine were also an integral part of the Evergreen Hall and attended all the dances, fund raisers and Christmas concerts. Elaine was also an excellent baker. Her poppy seed funnel cakes and lemon méringue pies were a big hit at the annual pie auctions.
Elaine and Louise attended church at Evergreen. Elaine spent Sunday mornings worshipping God for many years and was well respected by the congregation. She frequently sang hymns with the band during the Sunday Services.

Elaine and Rudolph were also square dancers. They were part of the Spruceview swinging 8’s and danced weekly with the club around central Alberta and were always a big feature at the Spruceview Canada Day parade. In her later years Elaine pursued square dance calling. Elaine was also a seamstress. She patched torn jeans, worn out socks and made matching square dance outfits for her and Rudolph.

Elaine was very meticulous and tidy. Elaine also had a passion for vacuum cleaners it seemed. Over the years she bought numerous vacuums from traveling salesmen. She was also very proud of her front-loading washing machine and how clean her laundry came out (including very white “whites”). The house windows were always notably clear as well.

Elaine also spent lots of time with her grandchildren, playing old records and VHS, playing on the keyboard and sharing her passion of horses, gardening and canning with them. She also enjoyed riding the ATV around the farm with them.

In 2018 Elaine started a downhill battle with Alzheimer’s. Taking care of the home and property became too cumbersome so her and Rudolph moved into the Eckville Manor. The food was good, life was easy and they got into all kinds of crazy antics with the wonderful staff. Further health circumstances eventually led to one more move into the Good Samaritans where she remained until her passing. Elaine is now in a better place and no longer suffering. She is now reunited with Rudolph and many others that were dear to her.

Elaine was predeceased by: her husband, Rudolph Lipka (2024); her parents, Frank and Louise Feitl; in-laws, William Lipka (Bill) and Mary Lipka and daughter-in-law Samantha Lipka (Liivam).

She is survived by: her son, Allan Lipka (Susan); grandchildren Ray Hemstreet, Ben, Tim and Ed Saville; her son Kerry Lipka (Jolene); grandchildren, Bobbi-Jo and Karli; her son, Kelly Lipka (Aly); grandchildren Sydney, Jackson and Abby; her sister Donna Sebek (Ed), nephew Aron Sebek (Crystal) and family (Taylor and Brynn); and niece Lana Judson and family (Kayden and Carson). Elaine is also survived by numerous cousins and dear friends.

Funeral Service will be held Monday, August 24 at 1:00 p.m. at the Evergreen Hall, with a private family graveside service at a later date.
