Dorothy passed away in the Rocky Mountain House Health Centre on December 2, 2025, at the age of 92 years. Dorothy was born on June 20, 1933, on her parents’ family farm at Strachan, Alberta. She spent her childhood along the banks of Prairie Creek. She attended school at Pleasantvale school until grade eight. In grade nine she moved to Rocky Mountain House to finish her schooling in the old Rocky Elementary School. On her first day of school, she met her new lifelong friend Helen Stelfox (Zander). After graduating she became a teller at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in town. While in high school she met and later married Walter Williams. They had two children: Gail born in 1953 and Terry born in 1957. They started their life together in Joe’s Cabins and then moved to a small white house across the street from Dunsford & Scott. In 1960-61 the family moved to the Williams family farm quarter in the Arbutus area.
She had a strong loving bond with her older sister, Jean Haupt. Both families spent fun times together through the years. Every Christmas was spent together till 2020 when Covid interrupted everything.
Dorothy was a gentle spirit with an amazing sense of humor and wit. Everyone she met loved her. She enjoyed her flower beds, her garden and having a cup of coffee under the lilac trees in the backyard. Her favorite spot was being near Prairie Creek, North and South fork. Her favorite day was a wiener roast at Steve and Patsy’s campground. She enjoyed her trips every fall to British Columbia to stock up on fruit and tomatoes. When Walter retired, she struggled with him being in her space. At 54 years old she met Cindy Petersen who owned Sew Much More Quilt Store. A new hobby was started. Family and friends received her treasures till this summer.
Dorothy enjoyed her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She made many new friends at hockey, football and baseball games with Darrel and Neil. She enjoyed the concerts and music played by Aaron and Melanie. Also, the curling, hockey and baseball games with Tony and Markus.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Gail Stewart and Terry (Anita) Williams; Grandchildren Darrel (Carrie), Neil (Katelyn), Aaron (Kara) and Melanie (Andrew); Great-grandchildren: Tony (Emmersen), Markus (Dani), Kari and Ayla; and nephews Steven and Darren Haupt and their families.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents Alice and Jim, son-in-law Keith, husband Walter and sister Jean.
She is now another shining star in the sky.
Our wonderful memories of our time together will live on in our hearts together.
As per Dorothy’s request there will be no funeral service.
