Obituary

It is with great sadness that we have to say goodbye to Shelly Jeanette Poirier. She passed away peacefully in her sleep in the Red Deer ICU on June 14, 2026, at the age of 62.


Shelly was born in Calgary Alberta to Louis Poirier and Marjorie Robinson February 7, 1964.
Shelly was a wonderful person, full of life and independence. She was a very social butterfly, and she knew everyone and was always willing to help others.

In her younger years, she had lived in Calgary, then moved to British Columbia with her father then finally settled in Rocky Mountain House, where she had gotten married and had 2 amazing boys. A falling out had happened in that relationship after 6 years. After a while, she met her next love, Rob Davies, where they grew a wonderful life together for 34 years.

Her passions included her dogs, gardening, planting flowers, quadding and camping. Boy did she love camping. Every chance she had, she was ready and willing to go.

Shelly is predeceased by her father Louis Poirier, Mother Marjorie Robinson and many aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her husband Rob Davies of 34 years ; her two sons James (Rebecca) Rodgers, and Lyle (Amy) Rodgers; along with her 5 grandchildren : Callie, Louie, Sophia, Hannah, Tahya, and her dog Zoey ; her three sisters: Linda, Suzy and Alexis ; her brother Roger ; step mother Joanne Poirier ; along with a few aunts and uncles.

My condolences to Shelleys family and friends. We used to ride the school bus together in the mid 70s. She only lived a few miles from us back then and we would play at her place with the other neighbour kids. She was always a lot of fun and full of energy. I ran into her again in the early 90s and it was like time had not passed. She had a good heart and stood up for what she believed in. I am grateful to have known her. May you be comforted by all your wonderful memories of her until you meet again.

I met Shelley more than 15 years ago when she was working at Rolf’s. We used to stop in there for coffee after our bus runs and we quickly became friends. She made the crib blanket for my 15-year-old son. I didn’t see much of her until three years ago when Sophia and Talon joined Cadets. Ever since she’s been my cadet buddy. I found her again to be a hard-working, loving, bend over backwards for her children and grandchildren type of lady. She was my friend. I have so much respect for her. And I will miss her so.,,,

I was so very sorry to hear about the loss of Shelley. She was a powerhouse member within the Rocky Sea Cadets and Navy League. She was quick to take on more than her share of volunteer shifts and was always ready with a joke or a smile and an offer to help out. Her wit and kindness as well as her dedication to our Corps will be truly missed. She quickly became a good friend to me and I miss her dearly. Sincerest condolences to Sophia and Rob and the rest of her family. Fondest memories and best wishes to all who loved her.

Shelly was a fun loving leader in the Scouting movement. She supported the boys and led them on wild adventures. Her son Lyle and mine became chief scouts together. She also worked for us at the GTI in Rocky and was always upbeat and cheerful. I remember the day she brought her new truck to work. She was so proud. She will be missed.
