John Gilbert “Jack” Maddox
July 23, 1940 - June 2, 2026
Jack Maddox passed away on June 2, 2026 in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. He was the eighth child of nine born to Joan (Lawton) and Jervel Maddox of the Gilby District. He grew up on the family farm and later took over the farm following his father’s death and his mother’s retirement. Originally, he had a true mixed farm with beef cattle, hogs, milk cows, chickens, hay and cereal crops, later concentrating on beef cattle, hay and grain farming. His favourite way of spending his spare time was riding his horse, his appaloosa Pepsi being his favourite, and going on road trips to explore Alberta. He sold the farm in 1993 and moved to the Rocky Mountain House area where he spent the remainder of his life. Most recently he resided at the Good Samaritan Clearwater Centre where he spent several years being so well cared for by the compassionate staff there.
Jack is survived by his children Robyn Maddox (Corey Harriott) of Red Deer County and Craig Maddox (Genevieve Caouette-Rochon) of Calgary; grandchildren: Owen, Lynsey, Henri and Julia; his sisters Diane Adams and Ruby Houston; sister-in-law Joyce Maddox; brother-in-law Mike Dubyna, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son Paul Maddox; granddaughter Jill Harriott; his parents Joan (Lawton) and Jervel Maddox; brothers: Bill Maddox and Tom Maddox; sisters: Marie Wilson, Betty Cunningham, Pearl Dubyna and Eunice Maddox; his nephews: Ricky Wilson and Gregg Cunningham, and niece Shelley Calkins.
In lieu of a service, his immediate family will hold a private celebration of life.
