Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Donnabelle “Donna” Barr, who passed away on June 3, 2026 at the age of 93. Her life was a beautiful reflection of love, creativity, faith, and service to others.

Born on January 8, 1933 in Fort Macleod to Gilbert and Agness Gunderson, Donna lived a life marked by love, dedication, and compassion. She touched the lives of many through her kindness, generosity, and unwavering support of family and friends.

Donna married Lloyd Barr in 1950, and they enjoyed sixty-eight years together. Donna devoted her life to creating a warm, welcoming home, finding joy in home making and caring for those she loved. Family was the centre of her world, and she treasured every moment spent with children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives, and friends.

Donna pursued many interests: gardening, music, sewing, and baking for which she was renowned. In her later years, she became a gifted and passionate artist. She found beauty in the world around her, and expressed it through her art. Whether painting, drawing, or pursuing other creative avenues, she shared her love of art freely and encouraged other to embrace their own artistic expressions.

Donna’s faith was a guiding force throughout her life. As a devoted member of her church community, she lived her beliefs through service, prayer, and fellowship. She found strength in her faith, shared it with others, and offered encouragement in support of others who crossed her path.

She leaves behind her an inspiring legacy of kindness, creativity, service, and faith. She is lovingly remembered by:
