Berki, Robert (Bob) Julius
January 4, 1947 – June 1, 2026
Robert (Bob) Julius Berki age 79. It is with deep sadness we have lost a husband, father, grand father, and great grand father on June 1, 2026. Bob passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his side in Rocky Mountain House, AB.
Bob Berki passed away leaving behind a legacy of hard work, humor, and unwavering devotion to his family. Born on January 4, 1947, in Abbotsford, Bob was raised in Langley where his parents operated a family farm before later moving to Quesnel.
Bob was a loving husband and a pillar of strength and support to all his children. He approached life with a tireless work ethic, ensuring not only financial stability for his family, but also being present for life’s important milestones. Bob was always ready to offer parental advice when asked. He loved all of his children deeply and believed in raising them with strong values and discipline.
Bob had a passion for tinkering with old toys, classic cars, and trucks. While many of his projects never quite made it to the final rebuild stage, he thoroughly enjoyed working with gears, levers, and mechanical parts, always convinced he might invent the next great money-making idea. He also loved the outdoors, which suited his long career in the oilfield maintenance industry. Over the years, he worked with Dome Petroleum, Amoco, and later retired from Penn West Petroleum in 2012.
Known for his sharp sense of humor and his ability to “stir the pot,” Bob never took life too seriously. One of his favorite sayings was simply, “Sh** happens.”
Bob is lovingly remembered by his wife, Dona; his children Chris (Dixie) Berki, Russ (Tammy) Berki; stepdaughters Maria (Paul) Pendle and Alana Montgomery and her partner Warren; his grandchildren Alyssa, Rhett, Bailey, Amanda(Alex), Michelle(Jayme), Chase(Diana), and Dustin(Kristen); and his great-grandchildren Ronan and Ryker. He was predeceased by his father Julius, his mother Jolan, his brother Bill, and his niece Lynette.
Bob will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
