Massey, Nola May
1956-2026
Nola passed away in the Rocky Hospital in the early morning of October 16th, 2026.
Nola May was born in Eckville, Alberta on August 24, 1956, she was the youngest of 3 children born to Lola and Clifford.
Nola lived her younger years on the family farm in the Condor area, at the age of five Nola was diagnosed with a brain tumor and had to undergo extensive treatments and surgery following which she had to learn all the basics again like walking and talking, it also affected her vision which plagued her for the rest of her life. She obtained her schooling in Connor and David Thompson. Later she moved to Edmonton and married her ex-husband, which only lasted a few years. Upon separation she moved back to Rocky Mountain House to the family farm spending lots of time with her dad. During this time on the farm while attending a farm sale with her dad she met the love of her life George Duncan.
George and Nola maintained a long-term partnership which lasted until Georges passing in in 2020. They traveled together throughout the USA to Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon plus numerous other trips within Canada. Together they had one son, Roy in 1983, who lived full time with Nola while George continued to be an active part of their lives. Together they spent many days camping, fishing and hunting plus a very memorable trip to Alaska as a family. Nola and Georges love showed in everything that George happily did for them as a family, his regular visits and commitment was a wonderful thing to witness.
Nola enjoyed her flowers and faithfully attending to them all summer long. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and doing jigsaw puzzles during the colder days and winter months. She spent several years donating two days a week volunteering at Seven-Day Adventist Community Outreach Program, organizing donations and often bringing them home to wash and mend for the outreach.
Nola was predeceased by both her parents, her father Clifford, whom she missed every day and spoke fondly of often, her mother Lola, her sister Betty Housen, her brother-in-law Ron Ames, nephew Billy Ames and a niece Ashley Ames plus two stepsisters and a stepbrother. As well as the love of her life George Duncan.
Nola is survived by her only son Roy Duncan, one grandson, one sister Mary Ames, one brother Tom Morrison {Judy), several nieces and nephews, plus numerous great nieces, nephew and other relatives as well as numerous good friends.
